Heating Controls Grant Ireland 2026

SEAI offers a €700 grant towards upgrading your heating controls, such as zoned heating, room thermostats and programmable timers. It's one of the quickest ways to cut wasted heat, and you need approval before work starts.

What the grant covers

A heating controls upgrade usually means:

  • Separate zones, so upstairs and downstairs, and hot water, can be controlled separately
  • Room thermostats in each zone
  • Thermostatic radiator valves on radiators
  • A programmable timer or smart controls
  • A boiler interlock, so the boiler only fires when heat is needed

Is it worth upgrading heating controls?

Usually, yes. Better controls stop you heating empty rooms and water you don't need, which can noticeably reduce bills.

Can I combine it with other grants?

Usually, yes, for example with insulation grants. The heat pump grant normally includes suitable controls.

Do I need approval first?

Yes. Work started before approval usually can't be funded.
